To erect an altar can be simple or complex: a bowl of water, a single flame or a towering monument all can invoke the presence of something that wishes to be remembered. Altars are a process, a physical space and a ritual of gathering to acknowledge people, places, events, ancestors and experiences; allowing their presence and memory to be nourished and fed by witnesses.
